Since our launch in January 2011, we have contracted approximately £900,000 of new sponsorship.
This is approaching a 100% increase in the funds available to Army sport. In November 2010, our core team organised a fund-raising gala boxing event that raised £80,000 for the Royal British Legion and Army sport.
As a dedicated service, Team Army enables sports sponsorship relationships to develop between the Army and its industry partner network that would be difficult or impossible for the senior officers who run individual Army sports associations to instigate and manage. Our management of the commercial aspects allows greater freedom for uncompromised dialogue between senior Army personnel and their sponsors at sporting events.
The opportunities for sponsors across all military sports are substantial. As downward pressure on public funding increases, the need for industry support for essential facilities grows. Team Army’s mission is to continue to generate funds to improve standards in Army sport – making sports success more accessible for all soldiers, while ensuring sponsors achieve an optimum return on their investment.
