Golf can be frustrating on a poor day, miserable in rubbish weather and exhilarating when all the good things come together. Frilford Heath on Thursday was exhilarating!
carousel frame imageOn a beautiful autumn day with a course in superb condition it was a fabulous setting for the 5th Team Army Golf day on this great Oxfordshire course. The play might not have always gone to plan but the conditions provided no scope for excuses as 40 players from a broad cross section of industry set off in 4-man teams to tackle the green course.
We were extremely lucky to have had the support of the Army Golf Association including the president and life president to help make the day go smoothly and provide a certain quality amongst this eclectic group of golfers all keen to give their best.
As in previous years, the inclusion of the Battle Back golfers only helped bring wider interest and a source of inspiration to the participants. This adaptive golf club, having started life at Headley Court to provide a sporting opportunity for sick and wounded servicemen to aid recovery, remains a thriving community and it was fantastic to be able to include 6 players as part of the teams.
Rounding off with dinner, a great day was enjoyed by all at this Boeing-sponsored event and we look forward to the same in 2018. The weather has been booked!
