Somehow it feels somewhat unnatural to be on a military range on a beautiful day with warm sunshine and light breeze but that is what was in store for the units of 3 Div taking part in the last day of the operational shooting competition. With the falling plate knock out it was a fabulous end to the week’s ranges and the culmination of the competition with there next being Bisley in June.

Team Ethos CEO Maj-Gen (Retd) Lamont Kirkland CBE thrusting a cheque into the hands of WO2 (QMSI) Burt RAPTC representing HCR (1 Armd Inf Bde)

For a number of years Team Army has provided the sponsors for the 3 Div Iron Trophy which ties in with the shooting competition as it recognises the achievement of units in military skills, sport and adventure training. Judged over several months and a cash prize and trophy as a reward, it has become an important feature of the Division’s activities.

Ian Nisbet-Mole handing over a cheque to 4 BN REME (101 Log Bde)

Team Army is delighted as always to have both Qioptiq and Heckler & Koch as the supporting sponsors who enjoy the engagement and feedback with the many soldiers using the equipment they produce. Last Friday was no exception. Even though Qioptiq were pulled away at the last minute due to other commitments, the Heckler & Koch team, led by Ian Nisbet-Mole, was much in evidence and drew plenty of interest and a focus for attention.  So, with 1 R WELSH pulling off the main prize, there were some happy units walking off with over-size cheques in order to help improve unit sport and adventure next year. A good end to the week.
Well done to the winning units and thank you as always to the sponsors that provide the support they do.
