Climbing may not be everybody’s taste and recently has claimed too many lives on Everest as hundreds ‘queue’ for the summit. But climbing is keenly followed in the forces and none more so than the Army Mountaineering Association (AMA) with sport climbing and all sorts of derivatives (boulder climbing?)and those more iconic expeditions that fall into the realms of Adventure Training. As always, funding is an important element to allow this activity and Trend Micro, Towergate Insurance and BT Defence are three such companies that are part of Team Ethos and support the AMA.
It was therefore fitting that the AMA’s president, Lt Gen Ivan Hooper, along with key officials and Association members hosted a fabulous dinner at the revolving BT Tower. It was a great way to recognise and thank those whose financial support enable these opportunities for our men and women. Maybe not the same awe-inspiring view you get from a mountain peak but it was right up there with the best; a tremendous experience providing spectacular views over the city and certainly and experience to remember.
Thank you the AMA, our loyal sponsors and BT for facilitating such a great evening in that amazing tower.
