Annington Homes donation launches “Team Endeavour” in Rolex Fastnet Race
The Team Army Sports Foundation (TASF), in combination with Annington Homes, are proud to support “Team Endeavour”, which will participate in the Rolex Fastnet Race on 11 August 2013. The Rolex Fastnet Race is one of the world’s most infamous and arduous off-shore yacht races. The Team Endeavour 16 strong crew is made up of wounded and injured service personnel who are graduates of the sailing programmes run by the charity Toe in the Water. The crew will compete in a Farr 52 race yacht loaned by Toe in the Water.
The project is also being supported by the Endeavour Fund, an initiative created by The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
Speaking on behalf of Annington, Chief Executive, James Hopkins, said “The Board of Annington is delighted to be able to support such a very worthwhile venture and wish the team every success in the race. We have no doubt that the race will draw upon the inherent inner-strength, already so very forcefully tested, of each and every crew member.”
Major General Lamont Kirkland, Chief Executive of the Team Army Sports Foundation, which as part of its remit offers grants to charities that offer sporting opportunities for injured soldiers. said:
We are immensely proud to be supporting this unique project. The crew dynamics makes this the only truly tri-service boat competing in the Rolex Fastnet Race and, with the team aiming to be the first service boat to cross the finish line; I have no doubt that there will be some fierce competition out there on the water.”
Annington remains one of the largest private owners of residential property in the United Kingdom having purchased the Married Quarters Estate from the Ministry of Defence in 1996. To date, we are proud to have sold over 17,000 homes, many to first time buyers, Service personnel and key workers.“
