The 13th October was both autumnal and rain-threatened but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the 48 golfers who rolled up at Frilford Heath Golf Club for the annual Team Army Golf day.
Bacon butties and coffee greeted the assembled throng on the big day and included some really classy golfers as well as those of us that simply enjoyed the golf and the company to complete the 12, 4-ball teams.
The Boeing sponsored challenge proved as always to be a popular day, the rain held off and with the course in great condition, with ‘challenging’ greens it proved to be both fun and competitive. It was good to see Battleback golfers integrated with the many sponsors and a timely reminder of how important it is that Team Army money finds its way to disabled sport with the positive impact on rehabilitation. With Liz Howarth of Boeing adding a touch of glamour to the prize giving during the delicious carvery supper, it was congratulations to Mark Crawford and his Camelbak team for clinching top spot just ahead of 3 teams tying for second. With grateful thanks to the Army Golf Association for their support we can only now look forward to 2017 when again we hope to see as many as possible take to the fairways and enter the 2017 Team Army Golf Challenge!
