What an amazing virtual awards ceremony last night to celebrate Women in Defence, we were particularly proud that our Ambassador Sally Orange was honoured with a Special Award to recognise her achievements in 2020.

Atos and Dell Technologies were also centre stage on the night as Award sponsors for the Equality of Opportunity Award and the Unsung Heroines Award.

Equality of Opportunity Award

This award is to recognise where an individual, team or organisation has worked to create an environment where there is equality of opportunity for any gender.

Nikki Kelly, SVP Public Sector & Defence, Atos said, ‘It is no secret that a gender diverse workforce is key to an organisation’s ability to reach its full potential. Whilst great strides have been made to date in promoting gender balance, the focus should now be on creating an environment where there is equality of opportunity for all genders. Personally, I would like every woman to have the chance to take her career wherever she wants, and I am continually inspired by all the great stories from our Women in Defence.’

Unsung Heroines Award

This award is to celebrate those women who, on an enduring basis, have improved the ‘lot’ of people in defence, essential to an organisation’s output but never seeking recognition for what they do.

Richard Rawcliffe, Vice President and General Manager UK Public Sector commented, ‘Gender diversity is important in every organisation or walk of life and the defence sector is no different. For this reason Dell Technologies are proud to support the Women in Defence Awards for the third year running. We look forward to continuing our relationship with this event and supporting the aspirations of the team behind it and all women in defence roles.’

Team Ethos has been a loyal supporter of the Women in Defence annual awards since 2016. We share their vision of making defence a better place for both women and men and strongly believe in fair play for all. The awards last night were a shining example of how the organisation has made huge strides in its mission to inspire, challenge and develop change in the Defence sector. We salute you.
