A treat to be amongst a great bunch of sponsors and supporters able to both play and support the Inter Services Golf championships. Postponed from 2022, it was a great setting at the fabulous Enville GC, for the two opening days bathed in sunshine and everybody thoroughly enjoying their golf. Thank you Qioptiq for again being the event headline sponsor.
The First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Ben Key, along with Air Marshal Steve Shell and many others from Service golf and industry played their part in the success of the event and support to the very best of service golfers.
The spring-like opening days were followed by a rather wet third day, but this did not dampen the palpable growing excitement with the result being still wide open going into the closing third and final day of the championships. With RAF Men and Army ladies defending their trophies it was the Royal Navy that brought the event to an exciting climax. The men stormed away with an epic victory over the RAF leaving them to be crowned champions for the first time in 18 years only then to be closely followed by the Ladies team playing brilliantly to secure victory over the Army and with it the first ever double championship win for the senior service!
A cracking performance from the players and all the supporting officials and sponsors to make it a championship to remember. The 2023 event will take place at Woodall Spa GC in September; cannot wait!
