The Birkett Relay, the world’s oldest sports car relay race, saw over 70 teams compete last Saturday at Silverstone in a thrilling 6-hour handicap event. Sponsored by Carwood, the race also served as the inter-service championship, with teams from the British Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force (RAF) vying for top honours. The RAF emerged victorious in the inter-service category, showcasing their skill and teamwork, though they narrowly missed clinching the overall race win.

Known for its unique relay format and intense competition, the Birkett Relay once again highlighted the spirit of endurance racing, drawing teams and spectators alike to celebrate one of motorsport’s most storied events. Team forces not only supporting forces motorsport also invited a number of motorsports their enthusiasts to experience the event. Blessed with some fine, mild weather, served with an excellent hog roast, the chance to join in with the team activity whilst soaking up motorsport excitement it all made for a great fun day.
