Sunday saw Team Forces and Mission Motorsport – The Forces’ Motorsport Charity host its annual Remembrance Karting Event at Thruxton Kart Centre.
This year’s event achieved a record turnout, with 20 teams taking to the grid – 16 sponsor teams entered by Team Forces and 4 Mission Motorsport teams (three military and one civilian team from Car Space). Following a competitive qualifying session, teams took part in a two-hour endurance race that delivered plenty of close racing and camaraderie. The event was proudly sponsored by Carwood.
The day also provided a moment for reflection with a moving pit lane Service of Remembrance and an opportunity to lay wreaths.
Among the guests were General Richard Nugee (Retd) and Air Commodore Eddie Cole, who joined participants in the paddock and spoke with competitors throughout the day.
Teams and spectators were well fuelled by Happy Herefords, whose deliciously and amusingly named burgers added to the friendly, good-humoured atmosphere.
The day concluded with podium presentations:
- Sponsors’ Category: 1st – Carwood; 2nd – Cambridge Aerospace; 3rd – Team Telent
- Military Category: 1st – Army Kart Team; 2nd – Poppy Pistons
- Overall Results: 1st – Army Kart Team; 2nd – Poppy Pistons; 3rd – Carwood
The event once again proved an inspiring occasion – uniting companies, employees, and the Armed Forces community through motorsport, reflection, and teamwork, while supporting the charity’s vital work in recovery and rehabilitation through sport.
