Team Forces grants support a wide range of sports, often providing small awards that make a big difference to the organisations involved. We recently received a great report from the Royal Navy Target Shooting Association (RNTSA) that shows just how much impact this support can have.
The RNTSA has taken a significant step forward in securing its future at the renowned Bisley shooting grounds, thanks to the incredible support of three key charities. Over a productive training weekend, the Association successfully assembled a brand-new storage container on the RAF Shooting Association Grounds at Bisley, ensuring their equipment is safe and accessible for years to come.
The project was born out of necessity, as the Royal Navy site at Bisley, where the Association’s equipment is currently stored, is set to be returned to the National Rifle Association (NRA) at the end of 2025. This posed a major challenge for the RNTSA, whose members rely on close proximity to their equipment for training and competitions. Previously, the Association made do with two ageing mini-containers that required constant repairs and sealing to protect their valuable gear.
However, with the generous backing of the RN Sports Lottery, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, and the Team Forces Foundation, the RNTSA was able to turn this challenge into an opportunity. The project involved using a specialist company to install ground screws, creating a secure temporary base for the new container. Five dedicated volunteers from the Association then worked together to assemble the container in just over an hour, before transferring all the equipment into its new home.
This new storage solution is a game-changer for the RNTSA and its Full-bore and Small-bore shooting clubs. It provides a safe, reliable, and long-term storage site, ensuring the Association can continue to train and compete at Bisley and the surrounding areas without disruption. In recognition of the vital support provided by the RN Sports Lottery and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, the RNTSA is now exploring options to display their logos prominently on the side of the new container.
The success of this project highlights the vital role played by the RN Sports Lottery, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, and the Team Forces Foundation in supporting the Armed Forces community. Their contributions have solved a pressing logistical issue facing the RNTSA.
With their equipment now securely stored, the RNTSA is ready to aim high and continue excelling in various competitions and developing up and coming shooters.
