Team True Spirit Takes on the Yorkshire Peaks in Challenging Conditions
Team Forces is proud to support the incredible work of Team True Spirit, whose recent Yorkshire 2 Peaks challenge showcased resilience, teamwork and determination in the face of demanding conditions.
On 11 April 2026, participants took on two of the iconic Yorkshire Three Peaks – Whernside and Ingleborough – during a challenging day in the Yorkshire Dales that tested both physical endurance and mental resilience.
Setting off at 0800hrs in temperatures of around 1°C, the team quickly encountered strong winds and rapidly changing conditions. As the group progressed up Whernside, the environment intensified dramatically, with a sudden blizzard striking beyond the halfway point and summit wind speeds reaching an estimated 35–40 mph, with gusts approaching 60 mph. Despite the extreme conditions, the team safely reached the summit before descending into more sheltered ground to regroup and refuel ahead of the ascent of Ingleborough.
What followed was a powerful demonstration of the values at the heart of Team True Spirit. Carrying full safety equipment and adapting to the conditions as they evolved, the group continued with determination, supporting one another throughout the route. The climb of Ingleborough brought clearer skies and spectacular views across the Yorkshire Dales, offering a well-earned moment of reflection before the final technical descent back towards Ribblehead. The event highlighted not only the importance of preparation and teamwork, but also the significant wellbeing benefits that purposeful challenge and shared experience can provide.
Team Forces is delighted to support initiatives like this, helping organisations such as Team True Spirit create meaningful opportunities that strengthen confidence, resilience and connection through adventure and the outdoors.
Mark Airey, Founder of Team True Spirit, said:
“This event demonstrated the core principles of Team True Spirit in action — resilience, teamwork, and shared challenge. Participants were exposed to demanding but controlled conditions, providing both physical and psychological benefit. Team Forces’ support plays a direct role in making days like this possible. It allows us to provide structured, meaningful experiences that challenge individuals in a positive way while strengthening connection, confidence, and wellbeing.”
Team Forces would like to thank everyone involved in delivering another successful and inspiring event, and we look forward to following Team True Spirit’s future adventures.
Team True Spirit is a UK registered charity which helps British military veterans, injured or made ill serving our country, to uncover their true determination, defiance and cast iron motivation to achieve their goal of crossing the finish line of an endurance sports event.
Many of the team members have struggled to come to terms with the nature of their injuries; They have battled with the subsequent long-term physical and mental health problems and the challenge of adjusting to a life completely unknown to them before, as have their families trying to support them. teamtruespirit.com
