The Rundle Cup
Admiral Sir Keith Blount, President of Royal Navy Polo, is delighted to invite military guests and sponsors of military sport to attend the official VIP reception and lunch at the Rundle Cup, the largest military polo event of the year.
Often described as the polo equivalent of the Army v Navy rugby match at Twickenham, the Rundle Cup is one of the highlights of the military sporting calendar, bringing together players from across the Armed Forces in a proud inter-Service rivalry and showcasing the very best of military polo.
Team Forces is proud to support military polo and the Rundle Cup. We are particularly grateful to Palo Alto Networks, our principal event sponsor, and to Team LionStrike and ARX Robotics for their support of Army Polo. We are also grateful to Gore-Tex, MLS, SIAMIDIS and Forces Mutual for their support of Royal Navy Polo and this year’s event.
Held at Tedworth Park Polo Club, the day features three polo matches, culminating in the historic Army v Royal Navy contest for the Rundle Cup. The programme also includes a parachute display by the Royal Navy Raiders, music from a military band, more than 30 trade stands and a lively village atmosphere.
The day brings together military guests, sponsors and beneficiaries in celebration of Armed Forces sport and the wider military community. Guests will begin the day with a champagne reception and lunch in the VIP marquee before moving to the grandstand to watch the polo and enjoy the afternoon’s prize-givings.
Supporting Military Polo
Military polo has a long and distinguished history within the Armed Forces, developing leadership, teamwork, horsemanship and resilience while providing opportunities for Service personnel to compete at the highest levels of the sport.
The Rundle Cup is the flagship event in the calendar of Tedworth Park Polo Club and raises funds for both The Royal Navy Polo Association and The Armed Forces Equine Charity. Tedworth Park Polo Club forms part of the charity, which supports serving personnel, veterans and para-polo players through equine sport, rehabilitation and personal development opportunities.
Team Forces is proud to support military polo and the organisations that make it possible. Through events such as the Rundle Cup, we help strengthen connections between Defence, industry and the wider Armed Forces community while supporting programmes that have a lasting impact on the lives of serving personnel and veterans.
Getting There
The event will take place at Tedworth Park Polo Club, SP9 7AH.
Guests should follow signs for the Blue Car Park, which will open from 11:00. Your car pass must be displayed on arrival. Verity will send your car pass in advance for you to download and print out.
The most accurate way to find the correct entrance is to use What3Words: oxidation.passions.newest, which will take you directly to the VIP Humber Lane entrance for Tedworth Park Polo Club.
On arrival, stewards will direct you from the Blue Car Park to the VIP marquee for the champagne reception and lunch.
If using satellite navigation, please allow extra time for your journey, as roads around Tidworth can become busy on event days.
What to Wear
Dress for the day for day is for gentlemen a jacket and tie. Sponsors – please wear your Team Forces member tie, if you have one!
Ladies: Summer dress or smart daywear. As the event is held on grass, flat or wedge heels are recommended. (Again -please wear your Team Forces bracelet if you have one)
Menu
A two-course lunch will be served in the VIP marquee, normally featuring fillet of beef as the main course (with a vegetarian option also available).
Later in the afternoon, guests will be invited back to the marquee for afternoon tea, including a selection of cocktail sandwiches and cakes.
