On a sunny August day at Newmarket Races, Major General Lamont Kirkland presented a cheque for £40,000 to John Farmer, National Chairman of the Royal British Legion.
The money was raised at the “Battle of Stamford Bridge”, a boxing gala and networking event organised by Team Army in November 2010. This donation will contribute toward the on-going operation of the RBL Battle Back Centre, which was set up to help seriously injured armed forces personnel to recover through adaptive sports and adventure training.
This sum amounts to half the money raised at the Battle of Stamford Bridge. The balance of funds was recently transferred to the Team Army Sports Foundation for distribution by its Trustees to the Army Boxing Association and other Army sports.
